Fund Description
The Mental Health Fund provides funding to agencies that deliver emergency mental health crisis services in Missoula County.
Funding is designated by the Missoula County Board of County Commissioners to support a local mental health system capable of responding to urgent needs for children and adults, including crisis intervention and stabilization services.
Applicants must provide crisis mental health services in Missoula County through Emergency crisis stabilization services or Emergency mental health intervention services.

Total Amount Available
In the previous fiscal year, $132,838 was available and distributed between two organizations. The total amount available in the Mental Health Fund is unknown until determined during the annual budget process. It is the purview of the Board of County Commissioners to determine the total amount, if any, to be available for funding.
Program Period
This runs with the county fiscal year, July 1 of the current year to June 30 of the following year.
Tentative Timeline
- May and June: Applications will be read, evaluated, and scored by a review committee.
- June or July: County staff will take recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for possible inclusion in the Missoula County fiscal year budget.
- June or July: If recommended for funding, applicants are tentatively notified of an award.
- September: Budget adoption occurs, after which contracts are executed if funding is available. The contract period is retroactive to July 1.
