General Election Ballots Mail Oct. 9 to Absentee Voters
Posted on October 09, 2026
The Missoula County Elections Office will mail ballots today to more than 64,000 active voters who are registered to vote absentee in the upcoming federal general election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Polling places will also be open Nov. 3 for the election. Registered voters who have not selected to receive their ballots by mail will instead vote at their polling place on Election Day. Residents are encouraged to visit myvoterpagemt.com and click on the “Voter Registration” tab to see whether they are registered to vote absentee.
“Be election ready,” said Elections Administrator Bradley Seaman. “Check your ballot status and voter registration at myvoterpagemt.com or contact our office. Make sure your information is correct, and if you’re a polling place voter, make sure you know where you’re going on Election Day and that you have proper identification.”
Absentee ballots are due back to the Elections Office by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3. Postmarked dates are not sufficient. The USPS recommends mailing ballots no later than seven days before Election Day, which for this election is Tuesday, Oct. 27. There will be a 24/7 ballot drop box available at the Election Center at 140 N. Russell St. leading up to Election Day.
On Election Day only, voters can drop off ballots from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at any polling place or the drive-thru locations at McCormick Park, Hellgate Elementary baseball fields on Flynn Lane, or on Russell Street between the YMCA and the Fairgrounds.
Following a recent court decision, mail voters are no longer required to write their birth year on their signature envelope. However, the Elections Office recommends voters still include this in case the law changes again before Nov. 3. The Elections Office will contact any voter whose ballot has been rejected for any reason.
Since there are fewer than 30 days before the election, Missoula County residents who need to register to vote, update their address or make other changes to their registration must now do so in person. Inactive voters must update their registration to receive a ballot in the mail. They can do this at the Elections Office at 140 N. Russell St. (Building B) or at one of the following voter services events:
· Seeley Lake: 3:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the elementary school (200 School Lane)
· Lolo: 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the common area in the school (5305 Farm Lane)
· Frenchtown: 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Frenchtown Rural fire station (16875 Marion St.)

o 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3
Due to limitations at previous school locations, the following polling places have relocated. The voters impacted by these changes have been notified.
· C.S. Porter School: Voters who previously voted here have been relocated to either Orchard Homes Country Life Club (2537 S. 3rd St. W.) or the Missoula County Public Schools Administration Building (909 South Ave W.)
