The Missoula Public Library will host "Anne Frank: A History for Today," a powerful and internationally recognized exhibit that brings the realities of the Holocaust into sharp focus through the life and voice of Anne Frank.

The exhibit will be on display at the downtown location from Thursday, May 7, through Friday, May 29. MPL will host an opening reception from 6 to 7 p.m. May 7 on Level One of the library, inviting the community to gather, reflect and engage with this moving historical experience. Rabbi Robbie Schaefer of Har Shalom will speak at the event.

The exhibit, developed by the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam in partnership with the University of South Carolina, features 33 panels to educate visitors about the history of the Holocaust from the perspective of Anne Frank and her family. Through compelling photographs, historical materials and thoughtfully curated interpretive displays, visitors will follow Anne Frank's life, her family’s experience in hiding, and the broader context of the Holocaust. This famous exhibit has traveled to communities around the world, offering a deeply personal and educational look at one of history’s most profound stories.

"Exhibits like this remind us the history of the Holocaust is not distant; it continues to echo in a world still marked by conflict and displacement," said Slaven Lee, Missoula Public Library director. "By engaging with Anne Frank’s story, we create space for reflection, empathy and a deeper understanding of our shared humanity. We believe the public library is a meaningful place to share this exhibit because of our position as a community hub and place for learning stories."

Self-guided tours will be available during regular library hours, with select docent-led tours offered for groups seeking a more in-depth experience. For more information, including scheduling for individuals or school groups, contact Xavier Kneedler-Shorten at 406-541-8875.

The exhibition and associated events are made possible by the Missoula Public Library Foundation and the Friends of the Missoula Public Library. For more information about the Missoula Public Library, visit https://www.missoulapubliclibrary.org/ or follow the library on social media.
